This is a photograph of my 120 gallon tank taken on 12-4-2003. This tank was first established approximately 4 years ago and is considered to be a community tank. I currently have 5 species of plants, 11 species of fish, and algae eating shrimp. This tank is currently under going an algae outbreak.
Some of the specifications are as follows:
Tank size: 120 gallons. Dimensions are 48"L x 24"W x 24"H.
Lighting: Hood with 4-96 watt 6700K compact florescent bulbs and a strip light with 2-55 watt 6700K compact fluorescent bulbs.
Filtration: Two canister filters.
This tank is supplemented with carbon dioxide injection to help stimulate plant growth. The lights are on for 12 hours per day and is electronically controlled. Temperature is kept at approximately 78 degrees Fahrenheit. 30% water changes are done approximately once per week. Ultraviolet sterilization is being utilized to eliminate "green water" due to microscopic algae spores.
